TLDR

Blackrock Neurotech is a leading team of engineers and neuroscientists dedicated to restoring function and independence for people with neurological disorders. The company is a leader in brain - computer interface (BCI) technology, designed to be implanted in the human brain. Their advanced neural implants enable people to regain movement, walk, see, hear, feel, and even think.

The goal of the website redesign was to emphasize Blackrock Neurotech's role as a pioneer in groundbreaking technology used in clinical research and powering cutting - edge devices in the fields of neurological diseases, dysfunction, and paralysis disorders. The company sought a website centered on conveying its brand narrative, while the team seeks funding to expand its product offerings, applications, and partnerships.

Mapping the Mind

Blackrock envisioned their web design to include the concept of navigating through the human brain, exploring neural networks and brain impulses. To bring this vision to life, we created a homepage animation mimicking the intricate patterns of neurons.

We blended colors with golden nuances to evoke a premium, high-end feel, and incorporated background effects that follow the user’s mouse.

Empowering Design Control

The front-end animations were particularly resource-intensive for this design. Despite that, we provided BlackRock's team with complete control and collaboration.

We implemented an interface that allowed our client to experiment with and adjust the color, brightness, shades, hues, and contrast of the design. Blackrock was able to fine-tune every element until they were completely satisfied with the final brain wave animation.

A challenging aspect of the UX design involved organizing the website for easy information review and ensuring users understand Blackrock's focus immediately upon landing on the site.

Streamlining the Blackrock Experience

Blackrock's website serves different audiences. It provides patients with information about ongoing clinical trials. It acts as a platform for researchers to explore leading products and access relevant documents, graphs, charts, and information on partnering with Blackrock Neurotech. Lastly, the site plays a role in fundraising by emphasizing the advanced nature of Blackrock's implants, providing investors insights into BCI and the company's products.

Consolidating and reorganizing the site’s scattered catalogue was no small feat. The previous website lacked comprehensive details, often leading users to external sites for further information. Visualizing all products together proved difficult. To tackle this, we implemented a structured approach to input product information and to craft well-organized product pages.

Connecting Products with Purpose

Numerous links containing detailed information about all of Blackrock's offerings were produced in the development code of the website. Various logics were considered for linking products and establishing relationships between them. It was essential to automate the grouping of products based on various criteria, allowing Blackrock’s team to effortlessly upload new technology or make modifications.

The design aimed to impress while prioritizing accessibility for individuals with special needs. The creative nature of the project added complexity, with each animation comprising 3,000 to 4,000 lines of JavaScript.

Ensuring a consistently high accessibility score across the entire website was crucial for delivering an exceptional user experience. Our foremost priority was to guarantee that the website accommodates all users, especially those with specific requirements.

Dynamic Narratives

The website focuses on storytelling and employs a "scrollytelling" approach where visitors experience a motion graphics-driven narrative as they scroll. Through engaging visuals, the site demonstrates Blackrock’s engineering capabilities that could shape the future.

We successfully built Blackrock Neurotech’s new website using WordPress, providing our client with the freedom to manage their site through a tailored WordPress Content Management System (CMS).

Following the launch, we planned for further improvements and ongoing support. Our services include SEO, SEM communication, and promotional efforts aimed at boosting the website's online visibility.
